Pick N Mix – Week Starting 6 July 2009

1., 2.

I hope all of my American readers had a lovely 4th of July (and long weekend if you were so lucky). We actually had someone letting off fireworks near our house on the 4th too!

On a different note, I was at the supermarket yesterday and while perusing the chocolate aisle I noticed that both Whittakers and Cadbury chocolate were on special. I went to get a block of Cadbury’s only to find they’d put them in boxes and reduced them in size by 20%!
After a bit of poking around online I see that not only have Cadbury reduced the size while keeping the price the same, they’ve also reduced the cocoa product and added palm oil instead, and most (if not all) of the family size blocks are being made offshore. Looks like I’m going to be a Whittakers girl from now on.

They’ve reduced most of the sizes of chocolate blocks and sharepacks here in Australia too, it’s crazy!

Thanks for the links – I particularly loved your interview with Aimee Marie :)

oooh so many goodies with this weeks links! how damn awesome does that scarification look? i think its beautiful. maybe bc im slightly morbid, but hey.

the twilight script had me in hysterics. thank god only the cat is here with me, he already thinks im crazy. but its all so true! so brilliant! LOVED this:

    KRISTEN STEWART

Me? Oh, no. I’m just a hollow placeholder for all of the teenage girls in the audience to project their personalities onto. I have none of my own whatsoever.

Great interview with Aimee Marie – I soo love your straight down the line style! And admire what you are doing enormously!! I remember coming here when you first started & have followed ever since! May success (& the lotto) be yours!

Btw! Palm oil alert – much of the Orangutans natural habitat is being cleared to grow palm oil plantations & the cool lttle orange monkeys are being wiped out. :(

Hi! Thanks for posting on this important subject. You’re not the only one disgusted by the recent changes in Cadbury! I have started a facebook group and petition to Cadbury to highlight this issue. Please check it out!

Thanks for the link to your interview, I really enjoyed reading it! Your “darling partner” does sound like a darling! It’s so great that you really are doing what you love, and “it’ll never happen if you don’t try” is always good advice, thanks!
Hope you had a great weekend!

    Congrats on the interview!

Hee. The 10 minute Twilight script is hilarious.

The scarification is beautiful, and I have traditional tattoos myself, but those laser tats? YIKES! I can’t put it into words why, but I’m kind of horrified. With a soupcon of fascination at the wee sparks that are created as the laser burns off the guy’s arm hair.

Yay, I’m glad you all loved the interview.

@Sarah Hannah – Twilight was so awful, that script was amazing though. It’s so obvious that the whole thing is a way for Stephanie to love out her fantasies and that Kirsten Stewart is an empty placeholder. Gold!

@Nelly – Exactly. I don’t understand why Cadbury would do this. It make chocolate tastes crappy and it kills the Orangutans home. :[

@Carly – Thank you. I had already added my name to the survey but I urge everyone else to as well.

@Whit – Seeing how we’ve got a laser cutter I was kind of interested in how long they lasted etc so I went through pages of comments on instructables. The guy who did it hadn’t come back to say how they turned out and how long they lasted, but he did show up about 5 days after he did them to say they were yellow and weepy. Sounded gross!
