I just finishes reading ‘The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster’ last week! I read little bits in my lunch break at work and I was often caught snorting up my lunch as a result of so much laughter! I told my boss that he has to respect my new religion and let me have Fridays off so that I can get into heaven where I will enjoy beer volcano’s and a stripper factory. He wasn’t so impressed :)
The size 12 model is truly beautiful and so radiant. Regardless of the ‘look at us, look at us’ posturing of the magazine she kicks ass!

The huge gigantic DEAL that was made over that model is exactly why it’s not going to become the norm any time soon. The fact that everyone started freaking out “OMG A BEAUTIFUL SIZE 12 WOMAN” just highlights that it isn’t the norm. Like Sarah said, just let people appreciate it themselves, don’t spoon feed us.

In agreement, I guess we have to take what we can get, before there were no pictures, so even just a little one. At least it was a ‘normal’ looking worman too, tighs, belly and all, and not some perfect looking larger woman.

That John Hughes post was so lovely – what a beautiful connection that woman had with him.

why do we need someone to point out “oh look, here is a woman who is a size 12 and beautful”. just include the goddamn photo, we’re not idiots, we can make the connection ourselves.

Glamour publishes a photo of a beautiful size 12 model and readers go crazy. And yet, I have doubts that showing a range of body types in magazines and fashion shows will become the norm any time soon.

I’m with you. It’s still being portrayed as a “LOOK AT THE LITTLE BELLY. WE ARE TOTALLY INCLUSIVE. CLAPS FOR GLAMOUR.” as opposed to be just being inclusive and not making a great big song and dance over a 3inch picture. Sigh.

But it’s a foot in the door… one toe at a time…
