Hier Und Jetzt – 6 September 2009

The first anniversary of Cupcakes and Mace will be here in a few weeks and I want to celebrate! I just don’t know how. An opportunity for you to ask me every and any question with a promise I’ll answer them all? Another competition? A collaborative craft project? Something else? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Watched this week: The Crow, finally! I decided to look up Brandon Lee’s IMDB profile and was questioning if he was actually that bad in the movie that he really hadn’t been hired for another part since The Crow, and then I noticed a thread asking how they finished the movie after he had died. That’s how little I knew about this movie. Didn’t know he was Bruce Lee’s son, didn’t know he was shot during the filming of the movie.

On my wishlist: Super funny awesome blogger Winona from Daddy Likey is publishing a book! It’s called Closet Confidential: Style Secrets Learned the Hard Way and is released on the 9th of November.

Best Buy: Sterling silver earring findings. I ordered a few hundred dollars worth of chains and earrings from the US. It is SO much cheaper to get them from there, even with shipping and the fact the NZ dollar is worth nothing in comparison!

I’m loving: Cooking foods other than bread in the breadmaker (seriously considering creating lazy girls cookbook!); a great week of sales (just need to recreate it on a loop); realising I am doing my own thing and have far more friends and it makes me all very happy; “Extreme moisturising. HARDCORE.”; great parties where everyone is approachable and cool, no ones being obnoxious, and good times are had; yum pie and curly fries with friends; candy from overseas (maple syrup lollies! thanks Amy!); a fantastic week of sales; new ideas for jewellery continuously flooding my brain :D; finding clothes I thought I’d lost 6 months ago.

I’m loathing: When someone asks what your favourite movie/book/band is and when you answer they give a kind of ridiculing half laugh half sneer. I’m so sorry that Fight Club isn’t abstract or arthouse enough for your tastes.

Another thing I have an unnatural dislike for: Keno – When the numbers are read out on screen at night I have to change the channel or at least mute it. For some reason it makes my skin crawl. Weirdo.

  2. Brooke Says:

Haha yep count me in for an advance copy of the lazy girl’s cookbook! I have a recipe for five minute microwave chocolate cake in a mug if you want it lol.

Argh I hate that thing where people act like you are beneath them for liking less intellectual stuff – I did a creative writing paper at uni last year and most people were fine, but there was this one guy… you just had to hint that you weren’t that big a fan of Chekhov or whoever else we were studying and he’d just give you this Look like you shouldn’t be in the class because you were clearly not up with what all the serious writers were into. I was like ‘psht, just coz Matilda is my favourite book!’. :P He was a tosser anyway lol.

I hadn’t even thought of charging for it so don’t you worry.

Ooo five minute chocolate cake. I imagine it’s much like my five minute sponge with jam or fruit that I cook every second night (!) but yes, a copy of the recipe would be great :D

The Harry Potter series are my favourite books.

I hate pretentious people! Argh. Just because I like the occasional silly/trashy book (hellooo, Sookie Stackhouse!) doesn’t mean I’m an idiot.

Also, that picture is adorable. <3 Warms my heart!

lolz, you really didn’t know anything about The Crow!

Did you like it? It’s a bit naff, but I’ve loved that movie for years and years and years.

  7. Katie Says:

Oo yes please lazy girls cookbook :D

  8. Katie Says:

Keno should DIE! I also change the channel on cadbury ads.

  9. Ms Constantine Says:

It wasn’t what I expected, but it was still good. I think if I saw it when movies were still made like that I would have liked it a lot more.

  10. Chickie Little Says:

Keno wasn’t so bad when they just called out the numbers. Now they make up stuff and half the time the number of things aren’t even on screen.

The Cadbury ad with the eyebrows creeps me out now – not only does he look like your Boy, the girl is really weird.

i LOVE that photo too! so cute :)

I think I got you beat. Right now, my top five movies includes “Doom” and “School of Rock”. At least “Fight Club” is deep and has a message that isn’t “don’t go to Mars” or “believe in rock n roll”. :3
