Pick N Mix – Week Starting 14 September 2009

Pick N Mix - 14 September 2009
1., 2.
  • I caved, gave in to the pressure, and got myself a Tumblr. The last few days have been full of pictures of tattoos, I’ve spent hours and hours looking at them. All because I want one of my own. I’ve wanted on for a long time couldn’t think of anything I wanted to tattoo on me forever. But now I think I’ve got it, so I’m collecting images of tattoos I like so I can refine my own style. Vanilla Haze will be full of those images, plus style and design I love.
  • With all my tattoo searches I came across a number of threads poking fun at people who have Asian character tattoos but don’t speak the language. I even came across a website dedicated to them. There are so many of these tattoos that an alphabet chart has been translating the English alphabet to Asian characters. If you know anything about Chinese and Japanese you’ll know these characters don’t work like that!
  • Me, Myself, and I. A much used phrase, but it’s still important to learn when to use each word. Don’t sound like a jackass.
  • As if Winona wasn’t funny enough with features like Don’t Show-cha Your Chocha and Martin the fashion blogging racoon. Now she’s writing lyrics.
  • If you’re looking for a totally cute DIY project you should try these terrariums made ingredients found around the house.
  • Spectators: spec.ta.tor n. An observer of an event.
  • Make an old t shirt into one of four styles of halter tops.
  • More tattoo links. Nadia is a six year old tattoo artist! And Amanda Wachob is an older (but fancier) tattoo artist that can make you look like you have paint brushed on you.
  • Women test men. It’s true, whether you want to admit it or not we all test them, usually in ways we think are subtle, to see how they react. I can’t speak for the women in same sex relationships but I’d bet it happens in those too.
  • Adorable dress and parasol.
  • My Life Is Average (MLIA). Like My Life Is Fucked except it’s meant to be about everyday mediocrity. My only problem with it is that almost every post makes me read My Life Is Awesome, take a look and please tell me I’m not the only one who thinks these little things make life awesome!

The Japanese to English alphabet makes me ‘lol’. I can’t believe people actually fall for that.

Haha, I always think of it as My Life Is Awesome too! What is average about all Harry Potter and Star Wars references? They are AWESOME.

The English “translation” of Japanese characters is funny- I can imagine some idiot getting what they think means”serenity” tattoed down their arm, when in actual fact it means something like: The Orange Control brings Sea-lice Lust Adventure”, or ” Flower Carpet Please My Medicine”
I remember years back, there was an asian- text- on- T-shirts trend…they looked so pretty, but the cynical side of me said “don’t buy one! It probably says “fat-arse donkey face” or something . O.o
Awww, the 6-year old tattooing her dad. Cuuuute >.< very trusting dad!
Omg, that "eye of the chocha " thing is hilarious!! Brilliant! I am so sick of the "no pants" look! Tack-a-rama.
Good luck with the tattoo deciding! I feel that I am slooooowly narrowing down an idea…but we'll see!

I’ve wanted a text tattoo for awhile but am still plagued with indecision. Hard to decide what to get isn’t it?

There are SO many amazing tattoos out there but most of the photos are covered by copyright so I can’t post them (without permission) I have to just make so with favouriting on Flickr and Imgfave. Frustrating!

Ooh, I will be checking your tumblr on a regular basis. You’ve already posted some beautiful designs. I’ve got several ideas for my next tattoo, but I’m not in love enough with any of them to commit.

Ignore the “you’ll feel silly when you’re 60″ comments. Everyone else in the home will be inked up too, so it won’t matter.

Pancakes are always awesome. As is Winona. I wouldn’t be blogging if it wasn’t for her. She’s just lovely.

I never really thought about that, there are going to be so many inked up grandmas and grandads that it’s going to be normal. Ha!
