Pick N Mix – Week Starting 23 November 2009
- The Naked Redhead details a few of the reasons Twilight is shit.
First, Bella is un-dateable because she has a condition I like to call, “I look like I have scurvy.”
Gold.
- Bad Romance fashion!
- I have a feeling that scottish folds are the cutest kitties every. Kitty dressed in a lobster costume in a lobster pot and (a a potential scottish fold) kitty trying to eat a piano.
- Tash cooked for Amanda Palmer and her crew. Amaze.
- Chickie Little has written an amazing guide on how to yum char, if you’ve always been too scared to try it because you don’t know the etiquette then you’re in luck!
- Wee bit of a back story. About 6 months ago our parliament passed a bill that removed the “reasonable force” defence when disciplining children, meaning that no more horrible mothers will escape punishment when they whip their children.
Since then there has been a citizens initiated referendum asking whether people should be allowed to hit their kids (it was actually terribly worded and not at all in plain english). It wasted a whole lot of money even though it’s non-binding. A whole bunch of crazies have decided that citizen initiated referenda should be binding and there was a protest in Auckland to demonstrate their feelings.
Editing the Herald has quite a few of the great protest signs up. (not that NZ’s Dancing With the Stars has been cancelled, Carly Binding was a part of NZ’s made for TV girl group True Bliss, and it’s section 59 not 51) Other favourites are Hit My Baby One More Time, Violence = Love, and Advice Dog Says “Beat Kids – Reduce Stress”.
- Last week I got to chat with bad ass Michelle of Wicked Whimsy. We talked about style, and blogging, and cats! Check it out.
- Cuddly Rigor Mortis is exactly the kind of art I love! Check out the article on Eat Me Daily then head over to the Cuddly Rigor Mortis shop and send pick me up a present. Go on!
- I want one! I’d also love a back yard to put it in.
- Facebook official is the new pin/going steady/exclusive.
- A horrible but unfortunately not uncommon of a child being taken away from its mother by other family in the Middle East.
- Definatalie is the queen of whimsy.
- A customers value is much more than the amount of their current purchase. So why don’t companies get this? Especially the big ones, sure my $30 a month might seem small now but what about when I have my empire and that turns into thousand per month…that you’re not going to get?
- 50 practical tips to save you half a lifetime.
If milk’s even a bit off, it’s off.
- The truth about college.
- Happysaddiagram – that bit in the middle.
- And one final cute to help you through the week.
How Twilight should have ended

This is a great pic and mix. so much laughter fo me today.
I have such a beef with the anti smacking bill. Just because most who protest the change don’t understand the why the law was changed and what the law ACTUALLY is now, sigh….seeing those signs gives me a good laugh though!

Ah! I want one of those in my backyard too! But first I need a fence. I am not sharing that with my neighbours.
Just saw your reply to my comment from the Summer Essentials. Figures I’d want a crazy expensive bag. Sadly those days are done and done for me. S swears I read the menu from right to left (price first) since he says I always manage to pick the most expensive meal….
I promise I don’t.

So frustrating that people don’t actually understand what it’s about. If you’re a good parent and give your kid a smack on the bum every now and then to give them a fright you’re not going to go to jail. If you whip your kid with a belt and break a rib however you’ll finally be able to be convicted.

Glad you’re all loving the links and the cute animals.
And everyone that got link love, you totally deserved it!

Indeed thanks for the link to The Naked Redhead’s guest post on my blog. She did just a fantastic job with it, so it makes me happy to see it get spread around.
Also, I agree with the Facebook pick. When my wife and I started dating, that was the way we determined we were official. Kind of strange in a way, but it never felt off. There’s something to that. I’m just not sure what.
