Pick N Mix – Week Starting 14 December 2009
- Baby hanging station :S
- Could you live in a van, scared of being caught, eating spaghetti cooked over a camping stove in order to save money and avoid loans? I’d much prefer to forgo education at an expensive university altogether.
- The Atheist Bus is coming to New Zealand. The initial target of $10000 for advertising was reached within 48 hours and a new target of $20000 was made. 5 days in they are just over $1000 from the $20000 target. Go kiwis!
- Wow. (nsfw) How’s that for trying to fit into the image a media dominated sets forth for women?
- Yo Twilight. Also – hehehe Twilight gif.
- Sarah Hannah, ever the thought provoker, gives us the low down on beauty products in media. Don’t be fooled – what they say and the reality seems to be quite different.
- Tumblr is amazing look at all these cool tattoos: button cuffs; autumn leaves sleeve; umbrella; T Rex skeleton; Flowers in the Attic (the Threadless tee design).
- It’s also fuelling my growing Harry Potter obsession quite dangerously. The stars in 2000 and now – Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Rupert Grint (Ron), Emma Watson (Hermione). I think I’m falling in love with Emma, she’s just so damn cute! (and I don’t usually go for blondes)
I can’t wait for Deathly Hallows Part I! - TMNT nail art!
- 10 reasons women need other women in their life. You really don’t know how amazing it is to have lots of girlfriends till you’ve experienced it.
- Preacher baiting. Repent homosexuals! Hell awaits you.
- Amaze! I may have to make myself one. (right after I’ve altered those clothes I bought 6 months ago, cleaned up my office, and packed for our 3 week holiday).
- Why I’d rather be punched in the testicles than call customer service.
- Are you a hipster? Check yourself and play hipster bingo on The Thinking Man’s Take On: Hipsterism.
UCB Noteworthy – “Poker Face”
A Capella performance of Poker Face. The singing is great – the choreography is the main attraction though. Hilar.
War Zone
“Filmmaker Maggie Hadleigh-West believes that the streets are a War Zone for women. Armed with only a video-camera, she both demonstrates this experience and, by turning and confronting her abusers, reclaims space that was stolen from her.”

That dude in the van is crazy. American universities are outrageously expensive. I don’t think university fees are regulated by the government, so colleges can charge what they like. Also a lot of students get their loans from banks, rather than the government, so that affects how they can pay it back. It’s bullshit – it definitely sets up a system of haves and have nots.
Unfortunately, Australian universities are pushing for deregulation so they can charge more for their degrees. Thank christ I’ve already graduated.
