Everyone’s favourite lesbian drama has returned for its 6th and final season.
It starts 3 months in the future and Lucy Lawless (the kiwi, Xena, Cylon) enters as a policewoman. You’ll have to watch it to find out why :p
It then cuts back to the end of season 5 where Jenny find Shane eating out her girlfriend (complicated relationship as ever where any of these ladies are concerned). I can’t help but be on Jenny’s side with the gorgeous dress she’s wearing. She’s so damn fierce. I didn’t appreciate that side of her personality in previous seasons of The L Word, but she may take a surprise first place as my favourite character this season.

The first sex scene doesn’t start till the 35 minute mark and feels very restrained for a season premiere, the scene doesn’t even get very graphic when it’s finished off near the end of the episode.

Unfortunately the sex in episode 2 is even less existent. You’ve got 6 episodes left ladies, better ramp it up quick.

I am quite aware that this post will come off as nothing less than bitchy. But keep reading.

While I applaud this girl’s daring in wearing this dress, I can’t congratulate her on pulling it off. The right underwear may have made all the difference, unfortunately she chose what appeared to be a low sitting g-string that squished her butt down to a roll and gave no shape while still making it look like she was wearing no underwear. The dress clung to her curves individually if you know what I mean!
Unless you’re slim, with curves in all the right places you can’t get away with clingy, shiny, dresses in leopard print. Not possible for me, and not possible for her either.
Killer pockets though.

You may not be able to beat Wellington on a good day but when you walk home in the hot sun wearing a black dress, thick tights, socks, sneakers, and a back pack it makes you feel like walking into the sea!

Maybe when I’m a fulltime blogger doing a whirlwind world tour with Em I’ll wear this to hand out heart shaped marshmallows and unicorn cookies.

Finally some pictures of my raincoat material-esque dress! Even though it was late afternoon and it’s a sleeveless dress I felt like a was melting wearing this in the muggy Hamilton heat. Polyester does not breath!
I wore this to the Hamilton Lake and to dinner at Lonestar with my family.
Any guesses which program I just started using?
Dress: Portmans
Shoes: Etnies with pink laces
Bag: Glassons with pink ribbon added

I like to call Xmas Present Day because it’s they day for presents and family and food. Celebration of a god I don’t believe in is insignificant.
These are the things I’m lusting after in a perfect world:
- Petticoats – I REALLY want a big fluffy petticoat. REALLY!
- Prettyfull sneakers – I already have these ones but I’m dismayed over the lack of pretty individual sneakers available. Note to shoemakers: Not all girls like wearing heels!
- Loungefly bag – I love Loungefly gear. I especially love this bag though. I WANT it. Damn you exchange rate. I’m not really asking for this stuff but if someone got me this bag I would love you forever!
- Marie Antoinette DVD – So I can play it on my computer and screen cap all the prettiness for inspiration. That’s going to be a whole lot of screen capping.
- Camera – I don’t actually own a camera of my own :S I currently use the boys one that I bought for his birthday a few years ago. He uses it at work a lot now so I can’t steal it. What kind of blogger am I?!
- Mindless Self Indulgence CDs – With the opening of JB Hi-Fi I have been lucky enough to score the CD Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy. I’m keen to get the rest of the discography though.
- Jewellery – Chunky jewellery, including this super cute baby bunny charm bracelet which I have the possibility of winning via Annie’s giveaway :D The site mentions an adult version but there’s no search function on the site and I can’t find it :[
- Hospital bracelets – I love them, I’m refusing to take off yesterdays hospital bracelet. I’d like to style them like Tilda Swinton as Gabriel in the movie Constantine. She wears them with the extra length of bracelet left in tact and words like passion and hope written on them. A metal version would be pretty damn awesome too, I found a Ksubi version a couple of years ago but it’s not for sale anymore.
- Labrets – Pretty labrets with attachments that are long enough. The pretty blue one I own now needs to be checked constantly to make sure it’s screwed on properly because the thread isn’t long enough. It’s fallen out more than once, luckily only when I’m sitting at my desk. It did come out in the shower once but I managed to save it just before the drain.
Labrets need to have more than one twist before they fall out.
- Darwin Fish – One of the little car plaques would be nice, but what I’d really love is for everyone to come to their senses and realise “There’s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life”.
- Glasses – Still need some scene glasses.
- Sprout the life you love – Perfect for aspiring female entrepreneurs.
Wreck this journal – I also REALLY want this. I think it’d be an excellent way to nurture my baby creative skills.
- Tattoo – This is more about finding something I love enough that I will want it inked onto me FOREVER.
- Glitter – I like sparkles so a glitter bar would be ideal :D
I’ve loved seeing everyone’s lists around! They’ve been my favourite posts of late. If you haven’t done one yet get onto it and leave me the link. Otherwise let us know what you want in the comments.

I am completely obsessing over big petticoats right now, I don’t own any yet but I have found so many I want. If the exchange rate wasn’t so bad right now I would be purchasing many, but it’s basically at 50 cents to the US dollar and in affect costing me twice as much as it costs Americans. :[
In between my 6 year anniversary dinner and trying to find a free file recovery program for SDcards I’ve spent a few hours looking at pictures and prices. I think petticoats look cute for so many occasions like a fancy night at the casino or a girls night out to a club. I can’t wait to get my hands on one, so I can start rocking some great looks! (If anyone does know of a free file recovery program I will love you forever. I’ve downloaded a couple of free trials and I can see the files there but I can get to them unless I pay :[ )
So much pretty!

One of the “new me” outfits I purchased this weekend just gone. The shopping trip was great, we spent from about 12.30pm till 5.30 pm at the mall in Lower Hutt scouring the chain stores and managed to score some good sale items.
I am particularly in love with my new check dress from Portmans. I’ve had my eye on it for a while so when I saw that it was $50 off I was stoked. It’s sleeveless and has a huge skirt that is able to be held up to my sides making a semi circle. It’s polyester and reminds me of raincoat material so it holds shapes really well and swooshes when I walk. It’s awesome. But you’ll have to wait for another day to see it.
There is still a lot more shopping to be done, I hope that the city, and in particular Cuba St, will hold some cute stuff. I see a lot more skirts in my future.
What I’m wearing
- Crazy eyes – Courtesy of my mother
- Knobbly knees – Courtesy of my mother
- White skin – Courtesy of my mother
- Black shirt dress – Jacqui E
I plan on changing the buttons on this dress to something more eye catching. Don’t count on it happening anytime soon though.
- Pink belt – Supre
- Black knee high socks with lace detail – Farmers
- Sneakers – Babycham
As always you can click on the photos to see just how much the wind storm messed my hair.

Super Summer Starter – Yep, it was amazing. Beautiful weather followed by a four day working week.

Angels and Demons – By Dan Brown. I started reading this book while camping and I’m almost finished, I’ve got the added distraction of work, internet and TV back in the real world though. If you liked The Da Vinchi Code then you’ll probably like this one. It may seem like you’ve read it all before though, it is VERY similar to The Da Vinchi Code. Religious guy is killed, Robert Langdon is called in as specialist and helps daughter of dead guy to save the world.

Sales – It’s that crazy time of year again. An emailed voucher for Glassons got me the bright blue purse for 30% off. My camera completely refused to take a photo to indicate its true colour, it’s bright 80s style blue. Awesome.
The necklaces were cheap to begin with but I’m not going to complain about 50% off! The plain black one is a long strand of star beads :D

Like my dance?
Fluffy skirts – After feeling like a slob in grey pants and a faded t-shirt yesterday I decided today had to be different. You’ll have to excuse everything from the shoulders up, the photos were taken after work and even though it was a short work week it feels like I’ve been dehydrating in my air conditioned office forever. I was also very bored and therefore falling asleep, it was beginning to feel like poking my eyes out with sticks would be a good option because at least then I’d get to take a trip to the hospital.
It’s amazing what a fluffy skirt can do to perk up your day and have everyone commenting!
Also note the bag from above, you can see the colour a lot better in these photos. I swapped the provided strap for a pink ribbon too :D
- Star bead necklace – Bling
- Tails style blazer – Portmans
- Misery t-shirt
- Blue purse – Glassons
- Silk check skirt with netting petticoat – Portmans
- Black over the knee socks folded down
- Sneakers – Babycham
Summer – I’ve always said that winter is my favourite season, mostly because it means I don’t get too hot or burnt. But with summer gradually returning I’m changing my mind. If I can see this from my bedroom window between 8 and 8.30pm what do I really have to complain about?
Can’t beat Wellington on a sunny day.

I am in dire need of a makeover. It has come to the point where sleep is far more important than having enough time to get ready in the morning, and choosing clothing must be done in the minimum amount of time. This usually means I grab the cleanest top and pants I can find and if I haven’t worn them to work that week they become my outfit for the day.
See my problem?
Thankfully for me (but maybe not so much for her) my friend Benhi has the same predicament. This weekend we are planning to rectify that by a day long shopping spree where we will push each others usual style boundaries and dare to be daring. I’ll need to get rid of the mounds of clothes I no longer wear that are all over my house as well.

In order to prepare I need some guidelines, otherwise all that money is going to go to waste.
What to do if you’re in the same situation
- Keep an inspiration folder at all times. I have a hardcopy one with pictures from magazines and mailers, and an electronic one with pictures from the net. if you’re using more than one computer it might be helpful to set up a private folder in Flickr to upload the photos. Don’t forget to record where you got the picture from in case you need to refer to it. I name the pictures with the link I got them from using ~ instead of / so the file name is valid :]
- Have an idea of the style you like and what suits you already.
- Go through the inspiration folder and really absorb what you’re seeing. Is there a recurring theme? Are the colours all the same, lots of waistcoats and pencil skirts? This is what you like and this is what you’re aiming for.
- Make a list of the staple items you need to achieve your look and do a mind dump of colours, accessories and descriptive words that fit within your new look, it’s a good idea to include a few pictures that encompass what you’re trying to achieve. – This is your shopping list.
- Go through your wardrobe and remove anything that you never wear, isn’t flattering, and doesn’t fit into your idea of your reinvented style. Then you can chuck out the gross stuff and give the goodies away.
- Take a trusted friend with you when you go shopping, one who has style you admire or who you’re happy to share your ideas with. They’re going to have to be brutally honest in helping you choose the items to create the new you.
- Don’t buy ANYTHING that doesn’t fit your self imposed guidelines. Try something on and then scan your list, does it fit the new style? No? Put it back. Same rules apply for anything that is too short, too long, too big, or you’ll fit in it when you lose a couple of kgs. Unless you’re an amazing sewer those clothes are never going to be modified and you’re wasting your money.

My latest inspiration has been Lookbook.nu. I’ve subscribed to the feed in my Google Reader so I can easily star anything I like and save it for reference.
At the moment it is showing a lot of ties and shirts, big ruffly petticoats, man style pants, black and white, chunky boots, blazers, thick rimmed glasses, collars and even a few top hats.

Is there a particular style you adhere to? Have you thought about reinventing yourself? Any suggestions or tips?
