I am the Messiah

Well, for one night I was. As per usual 361 put on a great dress up party. I was Jesus, a kind of sexy pedo Jesus. Not sure how well I pulled it off, but it was fun nonetheless. Other flatties were Wednesday, a werewolf, Amy Winehouse, and some kind of crazy doctor.

Highlight of the night: Goregasm (dressed as the blokey pumpkin) showing up and being invited in for photobooth pictures. I then proceeded to steal her and drag her to Kate (who has major girlcrush) because Kate was too shy to talk to her herself. We all ended up fangirling and managed to get Gaz to sign our fridge before she left.

Happy Halloween Ghoulies

Although Halloween is not widely celebrated in New Zealand the American version is slowly creeping in and it’s getting more popular every year. As an ex Wiccan I understand the origins and I used to get really pissed off about us (in the Southern Hemisphere) celebrating Halloween (Samhain) in October rather than April in the correct season. It’s a pretty important time for Pagans in general as it marks the beginning of a new year.

I take it for what it is now and recognise it as another marketing holiday that brings me candy and makes people appreciate the dark side of life, if only for one day. Can’t complain about that.

So in the spirit of Halloween…

You might be a Goth if

  1. You leave the house in your normal attire on Halloween and people compliment your “costume”
  2. Halloween is the one day you look normal
  3. You could easily blow $500 in a Halloween store
  4. You could spend all $500 on just make up
  5. You dressed as The Crow for Halloween one year
  6. You have dressed as The Crow for Halloween the past few years
  7. People give you their Halloween decorations on November first
  8. Your friends ask you where the best places to get Halloween costumes are
  9. Your friends joke that they’re going to dress as you for Halloween

I’m very familiar with the goth subculture and realise it should be about the music first and the aesthetic second so I hope those of you in the goth subculture will see this as a joke (as it is), otherwise we may have to rebrand you as emo :]
And always remember friends don’t let friends dress like The Crow

Kiwis like to take the piss out of their friends, chances are if you’re friends with a Kiwi and they haven’t taken the piss out of you they don’t really like you. – Benjamin Crellin (heavily paraphrased)
