On my wishlist: Love Ring by Missy Industry on Supermarket
Best Buy: I had two great scores this week, first was business related. After a couple of necklaces broke in the post I realised that the pillow boxes I was using were just no going to cut it for delicate items. So I searched endlessly online for a couple of days trying to find afforable boxes to use for posting. Most were going to cost almost as much as the jewellery to buy and weren’t even black. Then I came across a manufacturer right here in Wellington. Longish story short, everything fell into step and I got black cardboard CD mailers for a fraction of the price they’re advertised elsewhere. They’re perfect and sturdy. Yay!
Sure I could've made it myself but not for that price!
The second score was my only purchase on a 3 hour long depressing shopping trip. Depressing because I couldn’t find a single item of clothing in all of the shops in Wellington that I wanted to buy.
The necklace was $33, was marked down to $9, and then scanned in at $3!
Best line: “I have to have costumes because I can’t kick myself in the face like you can.” – Dita Von Teese on other dancing wishing they had her costumes (In Style Magazine)
A beautiful Swedish love story about a young vampire “girl” and her young male neighbour who is being bullied at school.
Perfect except for the horrible CGI cat scene.
Dorothy returns to a devastated Oz.
With the help of the Wheelers, scary interchangeable head lady needs to warn the Nome King Dorothys back.
Very dark movie with crappy graphics.
Two middle-aged guys still living at home are thrust together when their parents get married. They’re spoilt brats until they’re forced to grow up.
Lots funnier than it sounds!
A hack journalist scores his dream job at a high profile magazine. He sucks but with the help of Alison manages to make something of it.
Enjoyable, well cast movie.
It seems that Hitler is not amused with Zack Snyder’s adaptation of Watchmen. I never read the book so I didn’t know that the ending is supposed to involve a giant squid destroying New York instead of Dr Manhattan being framed.
I’ve been waiting to see this movie ever since I saw the first trailer in September. The graphic novel movie “genre” is my favourite despite not liking the actual graphic novels. I may have hyped it up too much.
The review:
Slow, not enough action, unnecessary sex and flashbacks.
Rorschach, The Comedian, and Dr Manhattan are great strong characters though.
Most visuals are stunning, some gruesome.
Epic but not amazing.
I wasn’t using them anymore, they were just more places with ramblings and photos of me that I never check. And that made them worthless.
I’m still around on Facebook and Flickr and right here :D
Just a short post today. There will be updates on the Guy Fawkes display in Wellington in the next few days, hopefully I’ll get some good pictures.
V for Vendetta is one of my favourite movies.
“Remember, remember, the Fifth of November, the Gunpowder Treason and Plot. I know of no reason why the Gunpowder Treason should ever be forgot.”
Obama is going strong at the moment with CNN reporting 174 electoral votes to Obama, and 64 electoral votes to McCain. They need 270 to win. The Democrats have been projected to win the Senate (whatever that means?).
I love you right now America and that says alot coming from me. I declared I would never step foot in America while Bush was president.
It all makes sense now. The reason Watchmen graphic novels have been getting special shelving in stores is because there’s a movie coming out in 2009 based on them! I may be behind on this piece of information but I’m so very glad I saw the trailer on the big screen.
I saw the trailer when I went to see HellBoy II and couldn’t stop staring. My eyes were bugging. It looks like it’s going to be an amazing movie. The music is Smashing Pumpkin’s ‘The beginning is the end is the beginning’.
Unfortunately I can’t tell you anything about the graphic novels. I am a HUGE fan of movies which are based on graphic novels, it’s my favourite genre. My favourite movies come from that genre. But, I’m not such a fan of the novels themselves. I may just have to read this one
